I’m currently reading… Religions of the World: A Latter-day Saint View, for a class that I’m taking; Death Coming up the Hill, by BYU English Professor Chris Crowe; and The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky.

On Sundays you’ll find me… at home with my family. Our children and three grandchildren usually come over for dinner. We play together and just enjoy each other’s company.

My most cherished memory at BYU was when… I graduated in 2003 with a degree in English.

My advice to incoming freshman is… take advantage of all the opportunities that BYU offers including service opportunities.

What I appreciate most about BYU… the students and the people who work there …because… these outstanding students and employees could go other places but they choose to come to BYU. It’s a special place where people come for more than just an education; they want to contribute to the world.

My favorite BYU tradition is… Homecoming week…because… I enjoy all of the activities, like BYU Spectacular! and the homecoming parade. It’s such an exciting time.

My favorite spot on campus is… the cougar statue at LaVell Edwards Stadium …because… seeing students posing in their caps and gowns during graduation motivated me to go back to school.

My advice to graduating seniors is… be a lifelong learner. Don’t stop learning just because you're done with your formal education.

The biggest challenge I’ve faced was… graduating from BYU. It was a huge commitment that took several years while I was raising my family. Truly it was a family effort. It was a challenge but also really rewarding. Also, preparing Devotional talks.

You’ll never find me without… my cell phone.

My fondest memory from my childhood was… family outings just about every weekend. On a Saturday or Sunday, my mom would pack a lunch and we would explore places off the beaten path. We’d find treasures like old, abandoned cars. They were great little adventures.

Three things that are always found in my refrigerator are… milk, red grapes and cheese.

My favorite quote is… “The future is as bright as your faith.” – President Thomas S. Monson
