In her forum address at the Marriott Center, Jane Clayson Johnson, an Emmy winning journalist, highlighted the remarkable impact of BYU-Pathway Worldwide. This program is sponsored by the Church Educational System and provides affordable, spiritually based and accessible education to over 85,000 students in 180 countries.

Elder Ronald A. Rasband focused his devotional address on Tuesday on the 30th anniversary of The Family: A Proclamation to the World. The proclamation is a statement issued by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1995.

President C. Shane Reese and Sister Wendy Reese welcomed students and employees back to campus with the first devotional of the fall 2025 semester at the BYU Marriott Center.

Education Week 2025 came to a close on August 22. The theme for the conference was “Inspiring Lifelong Learning to Benefit the World.”

Elder Gerrit W. Gong, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, gave the BYU Education Week devotional. He spoke about the importance of seeking wisdom and understanding in our lifelong learning.

Amy Jex, an associate professor in the Department of Dance, delivered the devotional address on Tuesday morning at the Marriott Center. Her remarks focused on the love and divine help that God offers His children as they navigate mortal life.

Sherami Jara, assistant dean and director of Liberal Arts Advisement and Careers, delivered a devotional address at the Joseph Smith Building on choosing faith over fear through turning to Jesus Christ.

Platt, a professor and associate chair of the Economics Department, reminded the audience of the incredible power of choice; both in everyday life and in the grand eternal plan of Heavenly Father.

In her Tuesday morning devotional, Dawan Coombs, an associate professor of English, spoke powerfully about the divine identity of all of God’s children. She taught how the knowledge of this divine heritage can serve as a lifeline in the times of confusion, trial or indecision.

“Sometimes the pursuit of academic and professional excellence and the pursuit of discipleship are framed as being in tension with each other,” William Clayton said in his devotional address. “My experience is that these pursuits can actually reinforce each other in important ways when we keep our eye single to the glory of God.”

Richard Houseman, dean of BYU Continuing Education, gave his devotional address Tuesday morning in the Marriott Center. He centered his remarks on a powerful spiritual pattern of going toward light, being filled with it and then sharing it.

Sarah Clark, dean of the David O. McKay School of Education, delivered the devotional address on Tuesday morning at the Marriott Center. She centered her address on the idea that each person has stories, often ones of failure or hardship, that the Savior wants to help us revisit, understand and rewrite.

“If today you feel your prayers are not heard, or you can’t feel God’s love for you, please know that every effort you make matters, even if you don’t yet recognize it,” Salani Pita said in her Tuesday morning devotional address.
