My job at BYU is… Dean of the BYU Marriott School of Business. I try to ensure that we are delivering the best education possible to the students interested in business on campus.
Currently, I’m working on… how we can serve more students on campus, including increasing the number of students who are admitted into our degree programs and providing a suite of business minors tailored to the needs of students in other colleges.
I’m currently reading… one of the Harry Potter books. I cycle through them on my commute (rest assured, I LISTEN while I commute!).
Econ 110... sparked my interest in my field.
Students don’t think I notice… them on the elevators or walking through the Tanner Building, but my job is to take care of the students so I am ALWAYS watching them. I wish that they would talk to me on the elevator instead of being laser-focused on their smartphones!
My advice to incoming freshmen is… to be intentional about how you spend your time at BYU. You'll find there are so many wonderful things to do, and your time here will go quickly. You can just let it happen, or you can be intentional about it and spend your time in ways that will best help you to learn and grow and achieve your objectives.
I became a BYU fan when… my parents enrolled me in preschool on campus!
My go-to BYU Creamery ice cream flavor is… peanut butter and chocolate. Yum!!!!
My favorite BYU tradition is… attending BYU devotionals …because... I always come away feeling inspired to be a better person and grateful to be here at BYU.
I chose to come to BYU because... I felt like I could do more good in the world here than I could by staying at Harvard.
On Saturday mornings you'll find me... going to Zumba class.
I’m most looking forward to… graduation next spring — it’s the happiest day on campus and what my job is all about! But I do have a lot of hands to shake.
Three things that are always found in my refrigerator are... bacon, eggs and milk.
My dream car is... a Tesla.
My fondest memory from my childhood was when… my dad would bring me to his office at BYU. I would sneak the change out of the pencil drawer in his office and go visit the vending machines.
The biggest challenge I’ve faced was... helping my two daughters make it through high school. It's tough to be a teenager these days.
