Cougar Queries is a series profiling BYU employees by asking them questions about their work, interests and life.

BYU employee since: 2024 in my current role. I’ve been a fellow of the Wheatley Institute since 2018 and was previously the director of public scholarship in BYU’s School of Family Life where I taught courses in family law, public advocacy and writing.
My job at BYU is… chief of staff to the president. By day, I help run the Office of the President. By night, I can’t say much, but you’ve probably never seen me and Cosmo in the same room at the same time.
When I have 30 minutes of free time, you can find me... playing tennis with my family.
My advice to incoming freshmen is… go all in! Join a club, watch a play, attend devotional, form a study group, ask for a calling, go ice blocking and tunnel singing — be the third wheel on a date at least once.

My advice to graduating seniors is… serve early and often and build faith in Jesus Christ and His restored gospel wherever life takes you.
I became a BYU fan when… I attended athletic events as a student, and it solidified my fandom for the BYU Cougars.
My most cherished memory at BYU is… the on-campus “meet-cute” with my future wife, Holly, right by the Tanner Building.
My go-to comfort food is… smoothies (but I find little comfort in them).
My favorite joke is… any of President Reese’s stats jokes.
