During spring and summer terms, Women’s Services and Resources will sponsor “Real Women, Reel World,” a film series addressing women’s issues, Mondays at noon in 3326 Wilkinson Student Center. Admission is free, and the public is welcome to attend. For more information, contact Women’s Services and Resources at (801) 422-4877.

Women’s Services and Resources will host “Revitalizing Yoga” Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:30 a.m. in 3326 Wilkinson Student Center during spring and summer terms. The class will teach simple yoga techniques designed to give students more energy and clearer minds. Admission is free, and the public is welcome. Individuals are invited to bring sack lunches and join in a conversation on women’s issues at the Women’s Services and Resources office in 3326 Wilkinson Student Center on Thursdays at noon during spring and summer terms. Every Wednesday at 11 a.m., the Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum will host a Discovery Reading event. The public is invited to come and listen to stories about animals and nature read by a professional storyteller. The event will be at the museum and there is no charge. For more information, call (801) 422-5051.

Every Saturday except June 30, the Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum invites children ages 5 through 12 to come to the museum and learn about animals from all over the world by participating in the Saturday Safari program. The events will be from 9:30 a.m. to noon. The cost is $12 for the first child and $10 for each additional child in the same family. For more information, call (801) 422-5051.

Each week, the Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum will host a Wildlife Adventure for children ages 6 through 12. Each two-day adventure will consist of sessions held on Tuesday and Thursday, which will be spent at the museum and on field trips, respectively. The cost is $35 per child per two-day adventure. Tuesday, June 5

Paul Crumbley of Utah State University will be the guest speaker for the Honors and English Language seminar on “Emily Dickinson and the American Renaissance.” The lecture is from 9-10:45 a.m. in B152 Joseph F. Smith Building. The topic will be “Emily Dickinson and Spiritualism.” After the lecture he will lead an informal discussion of Dickinson’s use of the dash for punctuation in her poems. Admission is free, and the public is welcome to attend.

The campus community will hear from Elder Earl C. Tingey of the Presidency of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints during the weekly university devotional at 11:05 a.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall. Wednesday, June 6

"Happiness is Possible in Africa" will be the topic of a Global Awareness Lecture by Aminata Sow Fall, a renowned Senegalese writer, at noon in 238 Herald R. Clark Building. Admission is free, and the public is welcome.

Women’s Services and Resources will host the “Mindfulness Meditation Group” from 3-5 p.m. in 3252 Wilkinson Student Center. The group is designed to help women become more aware of their inner selves and promote balance and relaxation. Admission is free, and the public is welcome. BYU’s Student Activity Board will sponsor a “BYU Jeopardy” game at 7 p.m. in the Traditions Lounge in the Wilkinson Student Center. Participants can test their trivia knowledge and compete for prizes. Admission is free.

Thursday, June 7

Students from the McKay School Leadership Preparation Graduate Program will present best practices in education law from 1- 5:30 p.m. in 115 David O. McKay Building. The 15 presentations will be geared toward future educators, helping them to understand the laws and legal issues that impact the classroom. Interested students and faculty from any department on campus are invited to attend.

Saturday, June 9

Tuesday, June 12

BYUSA will host a “Spring Splash” party from 7-11:30 p.m. at the field on the corner of 900 East and University Parkway, adjacent to the Caroline Hemenway Harman Building. The event will include both wet and dry activities, music and food. There is no charge for BYU students with a student ID.

Friday, June 22

The Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum will offer a free movie night in the museum’s auditorium at 6:30 p.m. The movie shown will be “March of the Penguins.” Families and children of all ages are welcome to attend.

Monday, June 25 through Saturday, June 30

BYU’s Multicultural Student Services will host a five-day Summer of Academic Refinement course which will prepare and inform students of the educational benefits and expectations at BYU. The cost is $225, which includes housing, meals, ACT test and manual and all other academic materials. For more information, visit multicultural.byu.edu.

Thursday, June 28

The Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum will host a Nature Experienceship for children ages 12 and up. The afternoon, beginning at 1 p.m., will be spent outside with Merrill Webb, who will teach about “Birds.” The cost is $10 per person and will last from two to three hours.

Friday, June 29

The second outing for “Women in the Wilderness,” a summer-long activity series hosted by Women’s Services and Resources, will be a night hike. For more information, contact Women’s Services and Resources at (801) 422-4877.
