BYU Law earns No. 11 for new ranking on grads in federal clerkships

BYU’s law and business programs remained highly ranked in the 2025 U.S. News Best Graduate School Rankings released today, while BYU’s engineering graduate programs made major jumps over previous marks.
BYU’s J. Reuben Clark Law School came in at No. 28 for Best Law Schools while the BYU Marriott School of Business ranked No. 38 among Best Business Schools. In specialty rankings, BYU Marriott’s graduate accounting program ranked No. 4 overall, while BYU Law landed at No. 11 for Law Schools with most Grads in Federal Clerkships and No. 20 for Business and Corporate Law.
BYU Marriott also landed a No. 49 ranking for their MPA program, with a specialty ranking of No. 21 for leadership in the public affairs category.
"We're grateful for this recognition from U.S. News of the quality of our BYU Marriott graduate programs," said BYU Marriott Dean Brigitte Madrian. "We strive to deliver a transformative experience to our students — helping them become leaders of faith, intellect and character who will in turn transform the world."
Meanwhile, BYU’s Ira A. Fulton College of Engineering (#125 overall) showed some impressive year-over-year increases within its graduate programs. BYU’s mechanical engineering program and computer engineering program both jumped nine spots over last year’s marks, while BYU’s electrical engineering program gained an impressive 14 spots. In fact, all of the BYU College of Engineering graduate programs went up in the new 2025 rankings:
- No. 65: Best Civil Engineering (up 4)
- No. 68: Best Mechanical Engineering (up 9)
- No. 78: Best Electrical Engineering (up 14)
- No. 79: Best Computer Engineering (up 9)
- No. 85: Best Chemical Engineering (up 5)
"While engineering college rankings depend strongly on external research funding, doctoral student graduations and other quantitative metrics, department rankings depend largely on their academic reputation," said Michael Jensen, Dean of the BYU College of Engineering. "It is remarkable that our department reputations exceed expectations relative to our scholarly metrics."
BYU’s Nursing School also came in at No. 78 among best nursing master’s programs.
Each year, the U.S. News ranks professional school programs in business, education, law and nursing, among other fields. The Best Graduate School rankings are based on expert opinion about program excellence and statistical indicators that measure the quality of a school’s faculty, research and students and their post-grad outcomes.
