Welsh scholar featured at BYU lecture March 23

Robert Llewellyn Tyler, visiting professor of British history at Westminster College in Fulton, Mo., will be speaking at Brigham Young University Tuesday, March 23, at 2 p.m. in 238 Herald R. Clark Building.

Tyler’s lecture will be titled “Welsh Devolution.” It will be archived online at kennedy.byu.edu. The event will be hosted by the David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies.

As a visiting professor at Westminster College, Tyler’s main area of research is in international migration. He studies the nature of immigrant groups in the United States, South America and Australia during the 19th century.

Tyler studied history at the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth, and completed his master’s degree in history at the University of Pittsburgh. Just after receiving his Ph.D. from the University of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia, the Australian government awarded him a scholarship to research. Tyler has returned to lecture multiple times at the University of Wales and the Centre for Community and Lifelong Learning in Newport, Wales.
