The BYU School of Music presents Q’d Up Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 7:30 p.m., in the Madsen Recital Hall of the Harris Fine Arts Center. The event is free and no ticket is required.
The showcase features BYU Jazz faculty with original compositions and unique arrangements of jazz standards by the BYU jazz faculty. There will also be several guest artists performing with the group.
“We are the BYU Faculty Jazz Quintet, so the music will predominantly be jazz, but with an eclectic bent, reflecting the diverse backgrounds of the members of the group," said Steve Lindeman, group member and professor. “There will be very exciting and engaging Latin-tinged music, and an incredible variety of textures, high virtuosity, good musical humor and conversation between some great friends and colleagues.”
The Faculty Jazz Quintet has produced three CDs thus far and has performed throughout the region. Members include Ray Smith, woodwinds; Steve Lindeman, piano; Eric Hansen, bass; Ron Saltmarsh, guitar; Jay Lawrence, vibes and drums; Ron Brough, drums and auxiliary percussion.
