Lunch and Learn activity for "Mysteries of Monster Grove"

In conjunction with Brigham Young University’s production of “Mysteries of Monster Grove” in the Nelke Theatre, a series of children’s “Lunch and Learn Workshops” will be available prior to the matinee performances June 3, 5, 11 and 12.

The Lunch and Learn Workshops will provide an opportunity for all playgoers, ages 8 and older, to participate in learning activities that build on the story of “Mysteries of Monster Grove.”

The workshops are free, but registration is required and lunches will not be provided. Participants can register by visiting byuarts.com/landl/landl.php. Workshops start at 12:30 p.m. There will be time for participants to eat their own lunches at 1:30 p.m., and then the play begins at 2 p.m. Tickets for the play are sold separately.

“Mysteries of Monster Grove,” an original play by author Rick Walton based on his popular children’s novel, will be performed in the Nelke Theatre from May 26 to June 12.

Tickets for the performances are available through the Fine Arts Ticket Office or at byuarts.com. Tickets for the 7 p.m. showings cost $9-12. There will be dress rehearsal tickets available for $6 for performances Wednesday and Thursday, May 26-27. There will also be $6 matinee performances June 3, 5, 11 and 12. There will be no performances Sundays or Mondays. For tickets, call (801) 422-4322 or visit byuarts.com.

“Mysteries of Monster Grove” is an interactive play in which the audience will help solve the mystery by voting at the end of the show. The play tells the story of Amelia whose parents are accountants to some famous and classic monsters like Count Dracula, Frankenstein and the Werewolf.

Things are great in Amelia’s life until the day her father mysteriously vanishes. Amelia sets out to solve the mystery of her father’s disappearance and solve a few other puzzles along the way.
