Lewis and Clark Expedition topic of BYU history lecture

A leading scholar on the Lewis and Clark Expedition will speak Thursday, March 13, at 11 a.m. in 140 Joseph Smith Building during the 18th annual Russel B. Swensen Lecture at Brigham Young University sponsored by the History Department.

Gary E. Moulton, a professor of history at the university of Nebraska-Lincoln, will speak on The Seven Habits of Some Highly Effective Explorers. He is the editor of the 13-volume series titled, The Journals of the Lewis and Clark Expedition.

Moulton has received many awards for his research and teaching. Most recently, President George W. Bush invited him to the White House to give a presentation in honor of the Lewis and Clark bicentennial.

Following his lecture, Moulton will be at the BYU Bookstore at 3 p.m. for a book-signing event. That evening, the Annual History Department Awards Banquet will be at 6:30 p.m. in the BYU Skyroom.

Making fashion out of art: Students hit the runway with designs inspired by BYU Museum of Art exhibit

BYU students recently showcased fashion and makeup designs in a runway show at the Museum of Art. They each designed and modeled a look inspired by one of the paintings on exhibit from an art museum in Puerto Rico. On display until Jan. 3, The Sense of Beauty: Six Centuries of Painting from Museo de Arte de Ponce showcases world-class art that reflects the innate beauty of the human experience.
