James N. Crane receives prestigious NAGAP distinguished service award

“James Crane has served as the president of NAGAP where he has provided distinguished service to that organization, which has given the university significant positive exposure,” said Wynn Stirling, dean of Graduate Education. “James’s service to Graduate Studies is well recognized by the entire graduate community at BYU, and this recognition is well deserved.”

For over thirty years, Crane has enhanced BYU’s undergraduate and graduate enrollment processes. He currently serves as the assistant dean of Graduate Studies.

His service extends beyond BYU. Crane participates in several higher education organizations, including the Herriman City Arts Council (HAC). Crane has been the chairman of HAC since 2006 where he volunteered, planned and hosted events that bring artwork and the community together. Crane said he believes art brings people together and should be celebrated, embraced and available to the community.

The NAGAP is the only professional organization focused on the concerns of those working in graduate enrollment management.
