Brigham Young University President C. Shane Reese, following approval from the BYU Board of Trustees, has appointed Audrey Perry Martin as university spokesperson.

Perry Martin’s appointment is effective June 1. She will fill the role of Carri Jenkins, who is retiring after decades of service at BYU.
Perry Martin is currently a partner at Lex Politica, a national political law firm. Her practice focuses on advising corporations, candidates, political committees and parties on campaign and election law issues.
“Audrey will make enormous contributions in her role as university spokesperson. Her judgment, communication skills and counsel will be immensely beneficial to BYU," Reese said. "Just as important, Audrey is committed to BYU’s unique mission and enthusiastic about telling BYU's story of students learning by study and by faith and going from this campus to serve the world. She’s an example of doing just that.”
Prior to her time at Lex Politica, she worked at the Federal Election Commission, for Congress, a think tank and at private law firms in California and Washington, D.C.
Additionally, she gained presidential election experience from serving as Federal Election Committee counsel for McCain-Palin 2008, as deputy general counsel for Romney for President in 2008 and as a consultant for Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign.
She also worked as legal counsel to the Committee on House Administration and as an adjunct professor at BYU’s J. Reuben Clark Law School.
She is the founder and CEO of Project Elect, a nonpartisan nonprofit that encourages Latter-day Saint women to run for political office.
“Carri has led University Communications through some of the most significant periods in BYU’s storied history,” Reese said. “During her time in this role, she dealt with complex issues and challenges and did so with grace, professionalism and excellence. Her wisdom on the President’s Council and in so many other settings on campus will be greatly missed. I speak for the whole university in congratulating her and extending our warm wishes as she embarks on this next chapter.”
Perry Martin received her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center and a bachelor’s degree in political science and journalism from BYU. As an undergrad, she wrote for The Daily Universe, the student-run newspaper at BYU.
