Holiday classic "The Bishop's Wife" at BYU film series Dec. 9

This year's Christmas offering from the Brigham Young University Motion Picture Archive Film Series will be "The Bishop's Wife" Thursday, Dec. 9, at 7 PM in the Harold B. Library auditorium.

Cary Grant, Loretta Young, and David Niven star in the holiday classic directed by Henry Koster. This delightful 1947 Christmas fantasy, about an angel who comes to earth to help a Protestant bishop and his wife with the pressures of fund raising for a new church building and help them in their marriage, is one of the all-time favorite movies of the season.

Doors open at 6:30 PM. Admission is free, but early arrival is encouraged because seating is limited. Children ages 8 and older are welcome. BYU dress and grooming standard apply

James D'Arc, curator of the BYU Motion Picture Archive, will present a behind-the-scenes
look at the making of "The Bishop's Wife. BYU's L.Tom Perry Special Collections preserves the archival collections of the film's director, Henry Koster, and of Hugo Friedhofer, composer of the musical score.

The BYU Motion Picture Archive Film Series is co-sponsored by the Friends of the Harold B. Lee Library and Dennis & Linda Gibson.

Contact James D’Arc at (801) 422-6371 for further information.
