Grammy Award-winning opera star Renée Fleming to perform at BYU, Feb. 25

Soprano Renee Fleming will make her BYU recital debut for the Nancy Peery Marriott Vocal Artist Series at Brigham Young University on Thursday, Feb. 25 at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall of the Harris Fine Arts Center.

Tickets are $40-70, with discounts available for alumni, students, employees, senior citizens and groups. Tickets can be purchased in person at the BYU Ticket Office in the Harris Fine Arts Center or Marriott Center, by phone at 801-422-2981 or online at byuarts.com.

Known as “the people’s diva,” Fleming has graced the world’s greatest stages captivating audiences with her sumptuous voice, consummate artistry and compelling stage presence. With her impressive four Grammy Awards, the National Medal of Arts and a long list of other accolades to her name, she is certainly one of the most beloved and celebrated musical ambassadors of our time.

“With the presence of Renée Fleming, we have the rare privilege of experiencing the singular talent of the most celebrated soprano of our generation. You name the opera house, the concert hall or the orchestra, and Ms. Fleming has performed there,” said Darrell Babidge, associate vocal performance professor. “BYU has a long history of supporting opera. The vocal students here are incredibly fortunate to work with the caliber of artists that grace our performance stages.”

Accompanied by pianist Gerald Martin Moore, Fleming will perform works by Robert Schumann, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Patricia Barber and Rodgers and Hammerstein.

This performance is supported by BRAVO! Professional Performing Arts at BYU, the university’s concert series that hosts world-renowned guest artists from across the globe. Additional support has generously been provided by Zions Bank.
