Film Committee calls for film and television project proposals

The BYU Film Committee has announced a call for Development and Production Proposals for film and television projects.

New application and proposal guidelines are found on the College of Fine Arts and Communications web site at cfac.byu.edu. Click on Film Committee Project Proposals.

The application deadline is listed as Oct. 10 in the online document; however, because of short notice the deadline has been extended to Friday, Oct. 22.

Student applications will have to be departmentally reviewed before the due date. Questions can be directed to Tom Lefler (thomas_lefler@byu.edu).

BYU engineers, Toyota partner to create ‘new standard in automotive manufacturing’

A new welding technique developed by BYU and Toyota for the Sienna’s sliding doors uses 40 times less energy, emits fewer emissions, and produces welds that are 10 times stronger. This new process, called refill friction stir spot welding, could prove critical as Toyota and other car manufacturers rely more and more on lighter aluminum parts.
