Danish, Guatemalan ambassadors plan BYU lectures

Brigham Young University will host lectures by the Danish and Guatemalan ambassadors to the United States Thursday and Friday, April 8-9, in 238 Herald R. Clark Building.

His Excellency Friss Arne Petersen has been the ambassador from Denmark since 2005. He has also held many positions such as Permanent Secretary of State and Undersecretary. He has also served on the Board for the Denmark-America Foundation. Petersen will speak on Denmark and U.S. relations at 11 a.m. on Thursday.

On Friday, His Excellency Francisco Villagran de Leon, the Guatemalan ambassador, will speak at noon on Guatemalan and U.S. relations. Villagran de Leon has been serving as ambassador to the U.S. since 2008. In his career, he has also served as vice minister of foreign affairs and as ambassador to the United Nations, Canada, Germany, Norway and the Organization of American States.

Throughout the school year, the David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies has also hosted ambassadors from the Chile, Croatia, Egypt, Hungary, Japan, Jordan, Romania, Spain, and United Kingdom.
