Danish a cappella group Basix to perform at BYU Oct. 8

Brigham Young University’s School of Music will host the award-winning Danish a cappella group, Basix, Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall, Harris Fine Arts Center.

Tickets are $6 and can be purchased by calling the Fine Arts Ticket Office at (801) 422-4322 or by visiting byuarts.com.

Spanning pop, jazz, r&b, soul and rock, this group of six Danish vocalists will present innovative arrangements to timeless songs.

The group is composed of six performers: John Kjøller, tenor; Toke Wulf Møller, bass; Christoffer Brodersen, tenor; Anders Ørsager, tenor; Niels Nørgaard, baritone; and Peter Bach, baritone.

Since 1999, Basix has presented vocal-pop music to fans in Denmark as well as abroad. After receiving recognition at the Danish precompetition for the Eurovision Song Contest broadcast on national TV in 2001, Basix has performed several times on the radio and national TV as one of Scandinavia’s premier ensembles.

Making fashion out of art: Students hit the runway with designs inspired by BYU Museum of Art exhibit

BYU students recently showcased fashion and makeup designs in a runway show at the Museum of Art. They each designed and modeled a look inspired by one of the paintings on exhibit from an art museum in Puerto Rico. On display until Jan. 3, The Sense of Beauty: Six Centuries of Painting from Museo de Arte de Ponce showcases world-class art that reflects the innate beauty of the human experience.
