Name: Jim Crawley
BYU employee since: 2002
My job at BYU is… Associate Director, LDS Philanthropies BYU. I’m a professor of philanthropy. I invite donors to give to make our students’ educational experience extraordinary.
My favorite place on campus… is the Marriott Center at graduation celebrating the graduates’ accomplishments and successes and seeing the happiness and joy in their family members’ faces.
When I tell people I raise funds for BYU, they often say… I could never ask people for money.
My advice to incoming freshmen is… look for and take advantage of every opportunity you can and don’t be shy about asking whether or not there are funds available to help you accomplish your inspired educational pursuits.
I get most excited about my work when… I help donors see the impact on students, faculty and the University.
My go-to BYU Creamery ice cream flavors are… Roasted Almond Fudge and Pralines & Caramel … mix in a Cougar victory, and it’s a great day!
My favorite Cougar athlete is… Morgan Mellow; she’s on the women’s diving team.
Three things that are always found in my refrigerator are… garlic and fresh cilantro for my wife’s amazing homemade salsa and gallons of milk because that’s all our teenage son will drink.
My most cherished memory at BYU was… seeing and meeting my future wife in the Wilkinson Center.
I’m most looking forward to... our daughter Amanda’s return from her LDS mission to Vancouver, Washington, this summer. (She just got home Thursday!)
My favorite quote is… “Great moments are born from great opportunity.” (Herb Brooks)
