I get most excited about my work when… I’m able to make meaningful connections with others.
Having a son born with a liver abnormality sparked my interest in my field of nursing.
Getting more involved in global vaccine initiatives changed the way I view medicine because now I have a keen appreciation for how blessed we are in the United States to have access to life-saving vaccines and clean water.
The best advice I’ve ever got about teaching is… love the students you teach.
My favorite lecture to teach is… how to diagnose and manage anemia.
When I have 30 minutes of free time, you can find me… answering e-mail. Not sure that counts as “free time,” but I’m always trying to get caught up on my email. I think this is something I legitimately accomplish once or twice a year.
Three things that are always found in my refrigerator are… ketchup, mustard and Miracle Whip (NOT mayonnaise).
You’ll never find me without… glasses or contacts. I’ve finally reached the age where I can’t see without them. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and my glasses are still on.
The title of my autobiography would be… Success is Not About How Smart You Are, It’s About Perseverance and Sheer Determination.
I’m most looking forward to… going to Moab to go Jeeping with my grandchildren.
