Name: Craig Manning
BYU employee since: 1996
My job at BYU: Mental Strength Coach
Currently I’m working... with athletes …on... the psychological aspects of high performance. I simply help people acquire mental skills to increase their potential and accelerate performance.
I get most excited about my work when… I see someone change their life for the better.
When I tell people I work for BYU, they often say… “How is this team or that team doing?” Everyone wants the inside scoop. I pretty much give general answers but it doesn't seem to deter people from asking.
Students don’t think I notice… when they are not paying attention.
When I have 30 minutes of free time, you can find me… I never have 30 minutes of free time. My day is always completely full.
On Saturday mornings you’ll find me… If I am in town, I will be driving my kids to their activities. I love this because I get to spend controlled time with them.
Three things that are always found in my refrigerator are… Dr. Pepper and Milky Ways. There is nothing else in my fridge but that.
The title of my autobiography would be… The Fearless Mind.
My favorite quote is… Tom Brady said most people are average because they work hard on things that don't really matter, but high-performing people work hard on the things that do really matter.
My most embarrassing moment was when… There are too many to name just one.
The biggest challenge I’ve faced was… Parenting is bar none the toughest challenge and almost the most rewarding.
