Cougar Queries is a series profiling BYU employees by asking them questions about their work, interests and life.
BYU employee since: 2013.
My job at BYU involves... leading the alumni and external relations' areas of worldwide alumni, Aspen Grove, Brand and Creative, university relations, special events, Hinckley Center and BYU Management Society.
We assist those who visit BYU and those with whom we engage worldwide to feel the spirit of BYU and to know our desire to benefit and serve the world.
My team and I are currently working on football tailgates, homecoming, a multitude of 150 celebrations on and off campus, the next edition of the Y Magazine, and partnering with BYU Pathway Worldwide with business planning competitions in Africa. We strive to have fun and serve.
I’m currently reading… "Outlive" by Peter Atia, "From Strength to Strength" by Arthur Brooks and "Historical Fantasy Books" by Jeff Wheeler.
I get most excited about my work when… meeting with students.
When I have 30 minutes of free time, you can find me… in my home gym (it’s my special place).
My advice to incoming freshmen is… connect with faculty, staff members, fellow students and our amazing alumni. The next person you meet might open doors for you that will change your life.
My advice to graduating seniors is… look to the Lord to guide you on your life journey.
I chose to come to BYU because… I wanted to be part of this prophetic work and give back to BYU.
My most cherished memory at BYU is… meeting my wife my senior year.
A daily habit that has changed my life is… reading the Book of Mormon and exercising every morning at 5 am.
