BYU School of Music plans "Evening of Concertos" March 5

Student soloists from Brigham Young University’s School of Music will join the BYU Philharmonic with Kory Katseanes, conductor, in an “Evening of Concertos” Tuesday, March 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall.

The regular ticket price is $10, or $9 for seniors and alumni and $6 with BYU ID. They can be purchased at the Fine Arts Ticket Office by visiting byuarts.com/tickets or by calling (801) 422-4322.

This event will showcase the multiple winners of the annual BYU Concerto Competition and will feature movements from works by Handel, Haydn, Ibert, Favel, Prokofiev and others.

The student soloists include Austin Benesh, trumpet; Nicole Okeson, flute; Anna Dunford, marimba; Bryan Lew, viola; Camille Balleza, piano; Arianne Sam, piano; Emily Workman, soprano; and Rachel Ostler, violin.

His poems are regularly published in leading literary journals, and he has received prestigious awards, including the Pushcart Prize and a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. From 2012-17 he served as Utah Poet Laureate, advocating for the arts throughout the state. He recently published his sixth book of poetry — "Making a Kingdom of It."
