BYU’s Jazz Ensemble offers much more than the “bare necessities” as its jungle-themed Un-Common Variety Show swings into action Friday, Nov. 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall.
“Come join us for an evening of fun, frivolity and outright jungle fever madness,” said Mark Ammons, Jazz Ensemble director. “These lively tunes are sure to get your jungle pulse pounding!”
This jungle boogie spotlights classic tunes from Disney’s The Jungle Book along with an impressive list of guest artists including traditional jazz clarinetist Jory Woodis and impersonator/trumpeter Dave Faires. The ensemble also welcomes Jake the Jungle Juggler and Jungle Beats—a traditional African drum group.
“In addition to the fabulous guests and energetic music, we will be giving away numerous prizes,” Ammon added.
Prizes range from CD sets, season tickets, dinner with a band member, gift certificates, Jamba Juice and J Dawgs. A grand prize will be announced at the concert.
