BYU film series plans "The Far Horizons" and "The Bishop's Wife"

The Special Collections Motion Picture Archives Film Series at Brigham Young University will show two motion pictures from its collection in November and December.

"The Far Horizons," starring Fred MacMurray and Charlton Heston as Lewis and Clark and Donna Reed as Sacajawea, will be shown Thursday, Nov. 20, in anticipation of the bicentennial celebration of the Lewis and Clark Expedition.

On Dec. 11, "The Bishop's Wife" starring Cary Grant, Loretta Young and David Niven will be shown.

Both shows begin at 7 p.m. in the Harold B. Lee Library auditorium on campus. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to everyone eight or older. Space is limited and early arrival is recommended.

"The Far Horizons" is a 1955 Technicolor epic filmed in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. It has never been released on video.

"The Bishop's Wife" is about an angel (Grant) who helps a churchman (Niven) raise money for a new cathedral while easing the loneliness of the churchman's wife (Young).

In its fourth season, the film series regularly screens motion pictures from the L. Tom Perry Special Collection.
