BYU Child and Family Studies Laboratory now accepting applications

The Brigham Young University Child and Family Studies Laboratory is now accepting applications for a number of programs for the 2004-2005 school year.

Applications for the preschool, prekindergarten and post-kindergarten sections of the summer 2004 school program are still available. The session begins June 24, 2004, and concludes Aug. 5, 2004. Summer school tuition is $250.

Children are eligible for the preschool program if they will be 4 years old by Sept. 1, 2004. Children who will be entering kindergarten in September 2004 are eligible for the prekindergarten program and children entering first grade in September 2004 are eligible for the post-kindergarten program.

Applications are also available for the Fall 2004 and Winter 2005 kindergarten program. The 10-month program begins Aug. 19, 2004, and ends May 27, 2005. Tuition for the school year is $1,500. Children are eligible for the program if they are 5 years old by Sept. 1, 2004.

Making fashion out of art: Students hit the runway with designs inspired by BYU Museum of Art exhibit

BYU students recently showcased fashion and makeup designs in a runway show at the Museum of Art. They each designed and modeled a look inspired by one of the paintings on exhibit from an art museum in Puerto Rico. On display until Jan. 3, The Sense of Beauty: Six Centuries of Painting from Museo de Arte de Ponce showcases world-class art that reflects the innate beauty of the human experience.

The team of BYU engineers placed 86 Bluetooth devices throughout a 50-hectare field near Elberta, Utah, to measure water levels across every inch of the field. Placing this many sensors in a commercial field is unprecedented and allows researchers to see unique patterns that have never before been captured.
