The Belgian ambassador to the United States will discuss "Belgian-U.S. Relations" at an Area Focus Lecture Wednesday, March 24, at 2 p.m. in 250 Spencer W. Kimball Tower on the Brigham Young University campus.
Franciskus van Daele became ambassador on June 30, 2003, after working in the Belgian Foreign Service since 1971.
He previously served as ambassador and permanent representative to the European Union from 1997 to 2002 and the director general for political affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Belgium from 1993 to 1997.
Van Daele received a master's degree in philosophy and art from the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium.
