In her Tuesday morning devotional, Dawan Coombs, an associate professor of English, spoke powerfully about the divine identity of all of God’s children. She taught how the knowledge of this divine heritage can serve as a lifeline in the times of confusion, trial or indecision.

“Eternal worth isn’t negotiable or changing, no matter what successes or failures you experience,” she said. “Your worth, and the worth of those around you, is inherent because of your divine identity.”
She invited listeners to be open to personal revelation as they prepare for their future. She emphasized the reality of “wobbles,” which are moments of doubt, fear and uncertainty that naturally come as we make big life decisions.
Coombs reflected on a time in her life when she was moving across the country for her PhD program. She was unsure of her abilities, testimony and decision to follow the revelation she received.
As she worked through her doubt and confusion during this time, she found strength in three key truths: know and trust your divine identity as a child of God, stay in sincere dialogue with Heavenly Father and the Savior and remember that your worth does not change with circumstances or choices.

“As you encounter wobble moments that will inevitably come, you can find stability by trusting in Heavenly Father and that He has a plan for you and seeking after it,” she taught.
Through her personal experiences, Coombs learned that instead of defining herself by what she isn’t and doesn’t have, she could find steady ground by remembering who she truly was: a beloved child of Heavenly Father with divine potential and infinite worth.
She encouraged students to trust Heavenly Father’s plan even when answers aren’t immediate, and to keep moving forward.
“Jesus Christ and His Atonement offer support and strength that will sustain you,” Coombs taught. “Through it all, I cannot deny His watchful and guiding hand, nor the generous blessings He leaves along the way.”
