Name: David Morgan
BYU employee since… 2009.
My job at BYU is… associate professor of industrial design; my students go on to design all kinds of products, from shoes to motorcycles to Legos.

I’m currently reading… “The Copenhagen Trilogy” by Tove Ditlevsen. Also, a book about Achille Castiglioni, one of my favorite designers.
Students don’t think I notice… when they are flirting in class.
The best advice I’ve ever got about teaching is… it’s not about you; the “sage on the stage” isn’t very effective for most students.
My favorite lecture to teach is… I don’t really teach lectures; my classes are studio-based, so we mostly have discussions and critiques.
When I have 30 minutes of free time, you can find me… reading the news — I’m a news junkie!
The best-kept BYU secret is… International Cinema — so many good films to watch!

My go-to comfort food is… a big bowl of greens and beans, it’s delicious peasant food from southern Italy. I‘ve even had it on a pizza.
My favorite quote is… “Hey! Ho! Let’s go!”
One item on my bucket list is… to bikepack the length of Denmark with my wife Marilyn
My dream car is... Toyota Land Cruiser FJ45LV (it’s the hard-to-find wagon version) orange and white, if possible.
I'm currently working on... our collective is investigating bendable plywood furniture.
