Name: Fernanda Dutra
BYU employee since: September 2010
My job at BYU is… executive pastry chef.
Currently I’m working on... promoting my recipe book newly published on Amazon called "Sweet Intentions!" It's available both in Kindle and paperback. It includes my favorite dessert recipes, many of which you can taste across BYU’s campus. These are tested recipes I have used for many years, so they are fast and easy to make. Moreover, I am also working on a second book that will have all the cookie recipes I have used during my career as a pastry chef, including the Mudslide (a campus favorite).
I am currently reading…
"The 33 Strategies of War" by Robert Greene.
I get most excited about my work when… I create a new dessert menu catered to a special event.
When I tell people I work for BYU, they often say… “are you the one that makes those famous brownies and CougarTails?”
On Saturday mornings you will find me... playing on the trampoline with my two grandkids.
My go-to comfort food is… anything with dark chocolate.
Things that are always found in my refrigerator are…nuts and cheese.
The title of my autobiography would be… “Things Only Get Sweeter with Time”
I am secretly good at... restoring old furniture and house painting.
I dream about one day… owning my own bakery shop.
My favorite saying is… “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”—Aristotle
