I’ve been a BYU professor since: 2019.
My job at BYU is… the associate director for curriculum and instruction at the Center for Language Studies.
My research focuses on… identifying best language teaching practices. More recent research has focused on the neuroscience of multilingualism.
When I tell people I work for BYU, they often ask… “How many languages does BYU teach?” The answer is 83 — more than any other university in the U.S. Go Cougs!
When I have 30 minutes of free time, you can find me… riding my bike. I’m sorry to say it is an e-bike, but I live in the mountains, so I still get good exercise.
You’ll never find me without… a book.
My favorite quote is… “The years tell us much that the days never knew.”
My fondest memory from my childhood is when… I met my future husband in seventh-grade English class when we were both 12. We didn’t marry until many years later after we had both completed missions in Taiwan.
I chose to come to BYU because… I love that it is a strong academic university that also embraces gospel learning. And, of course, the students are wonderful to work with!
