My job at BYU is… dean of Graduate Studies — I have responsibility for and oversight of all the graduate programs at BYU.
My dream car is... a late-1960s Ford Mustang Convertible.
When I have 30 minutes of free time, you can find me… I’m not sure because 30 minutes is too short, but if I have more than 60 minutes you’ll find me doing a seasonally appropriate outdoor activity like hiking, biking, skiing, fishing or gardening.
I’ve hiked Y Mountain at least 100 times; sometimes I hike the Y for a lunch break workout.
My favorite Cougar athlete is… Cosmo — my senior year at BYU, one of my roommates was Cosmo.
On Saturday mornings you’ll find me… sleeping in, if I can get away with it.
My go-to comfort food is… a bacon cheeseburger, fries and a Cherry Coke.
My favorite lecture to teach is… one around Halloween (fall semester) or April Fool’s Day (winter semester). I dress up with a 1960s rockstar wig and sing a chemistry parody song I wrote to the tune of “Yesterday” by the Beatles.
