BYU names new interim dean, associate dean and department chairs

Brigham Young University Academic Vice President Shane Reese announced new administrative appointments, including an interim dean, associate dean and five new department chairs. All these new hires are effective July 1.

Interim Dean

Kendra Hall-Kenyon was named the interim dean of the David O. McKay School of Education. A search for the next full-time dean will begin soon. Hall-Kenyon will fill in for Richard Osguthorpe, who was recently named an associate academic vice president. Hall-Kenyon earned a B.S. in family science from BYU and both an M.A. and Ph.D. in human development from Columbia University. She has taught at BYU since 2002.

"I am grateful to Kendra for taking on this new responsibility. I know she will have an impact on her college during her time as interim dean," Reese said.

Associate Dean

Grant Lundberg will move from his position as department chair of German and Russian, a role he’s held since 2016, to associate dean in the College of Humanities. Lundberg has taught at BYU since 1999 and earned degrees from both BYU and the University of Kansas.

"Grant will help round out our wonderful leadership in the College of Humanities," Reese said. "His decades of experience at BYU will be a blessing to the students and faculty."
