Sharman Gill has been a writer for University Communications since October 2024. She primarily writes feature stories for news.byu.edu, highlighting premier research and inspiring learning projects.
Sharman previously worked for 11 years as a writing instructor for BYU and Snow College. She developed BIO 316, an advanced scientific communication course for mentored-research students in the Life Sciences. She has a rich background in professional writing with opportunities to write for Community News (Moscow, ID), Duke Clinical Research Institute, Colorado State Parks, and the US Forest Service.
Sharman received a bachelor’s degree in conservation biology and a master’s degree in English from BYU. She has published academic articles in Interdisciplinary Studies in Literature and the Environment and Stance: Studies on the Family, as well as several poems in academic journals and popular magazines. In 2021 she received the Adjunct Faculty Award in BYU’s College of Life Sciences.
