WorldFest 2004 celebrates diverse cultures at BYU Nov. 16-20

As part of International Education Week, the International Services Office at Brigham Young University sponsors the weeklong WorldFest 2004, with opening ceremonies Tuesday, Nov. 16 at noon in the Garden Court of the Wilkinson Student Center at Brigham Young University.

The following activities are available each day at the listed times in the WSC Garden Court:

  • Noon - Students representing various countries provide music and dance performances.

  • 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Culture booths with information, music and traditions of more than 30 countries are on display. The following two events highlight the diversity of cultures embraced by BYU:

  • The Fashion Show and International Banquet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the WSC Ballroom will feature traditional ethnic attire from many countries and a catered dinner. Tickets for the event are available at the WSC Information Booth and in the International Services Office.

  • The International Food Fest at 6 p.m. Friday in the WSC Garden Court will showcase food, drinks and desserts from many parts of the world. Coupons purchased at the door will be exchanged for food at the booths. The finale of Worldfest 2004 is the International Showcase at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19 in WSC Ballroom. Student performers will present traditional dances and music from around the world. A Latin dance beginning at 9 p.m. is set to follow the finale in the Wilkinson Center Ballroom.
