World food supply subject for BYU lecture Sept. 16

The College of Life Sciences at Brigham Young University is hosting a seminar titled “Food Think: Beware the Fearmongers!” at the Joseph Smith Building Auditorium Thursday, Sept. 16, from 11 to 11:50 a.m.

The lecture, sponsored by the college’s Department of Nutrition, Dietetics and Food Science, will be given by Roger A. Clemens, an adjunct professor of pharmacology and pharmaceutical sciences at the USC School of Pharmacy. A widely acclaimed food science speaker and researcher, Clemens will discuss what myths and negative perceptions exist about the world’s food supply. He will also address common misconceptions associated with the food and agricultural industries.

“The lecture is for everyone, not just those studying food sciences,” said Mike Dunn, associate professor and chair at BYU’s Department of Nutrition, Dietetics and Food Science. “Those who attend will learn not only about global food issues, but also about personal dietary myths as well.”

For more information about the seminar, contact Mike Dunn at (801) 422-6670 or michael_dunn@byu.edu or visit ndfs.byu.edu.
