Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band join forces for Dec. 6 concert

The Brigham Young University Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band will join forces for a combined concert Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall.

Admission will be $9 or $6 with a BYU or student ID. Tickets can be purchased at the Fine Arts Ticket Office, by calling (801) 422-7664 or by visiting performances.byu.edu.

Donald Peterson will conduct the Symphonic Band in a series of European pieces, including “Scenes from ‘The Louvre’” by Elliott Del Borgo, “Irish Tune from County Derry” by Percy A. Grainger and “Armenian Dances” by Alfred Reed. The group will also perform the classic hymn “Come, Come, Ye Saints” by Thomas Knox.

The Wind Symphony, led by David Blackinton, will perform “Sunrise at Angel’s Gate” by Philip Sparke, “Let Us Break Bread Together” by Thomas Root and “Folk Dances” by Dmitri Shostakovich.
