Wednesday, Sept. 6

Omani Ambassador Hunaina Sultan Ahmed Al Mughairy will speak on "Oman-U.S. Relations" at noon in the Kennedy Center Conference Room, 238 Herald R. Clark Building. She became ambassador of Oman to the United States on Dec. 2, 2005, after having served as Oman's permanent representative to the United Nations in New York.

Thursday, Sept. 7

United Way of Utah County is sponsoring a Day of Caring for all full-time BYU employees on Thursday, Sept. 7. The half-day of service projects will include painting, landscaping, general maintenance and cleaning.

The day will begin at 7:30 a.m. with a complimentary breakfast at the south end zone of the LaVell Edwards Stadium served by community and University leaders. The breakfast will be followed by service projects until noon. Participants are encouraged to dress to accommodate outdoor work.

Friday, Sept. 8

BYUSA's Laugh Out Loud comedy club is holding a show in 205 J. Reuben Clark Law Building from 8 to 9 p.m. The show is $2 per person if the ticket is bought before the event and $3 at the door. For more information, see http://lol.byu.edu.

Sunday, Sept. 10

Elder Henry B. Eyring of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will speak at a Church Educational System fireside at 6 p.m. in the Marriott Center. Tuesday, Sept. 12

Thursday, Sept. 14

The New Graduate Student Orientation Fall Info Fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Garden Court at the Wilkinson Student Center. The fair will host 26 booths providing information about university- and community-sponsored services available to graduate students. The orientation will include a banquet from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Wilkinson Student Center Ballroom. This event is for new graduate students and spouses, faculty, graduate coordinators, graduate secretaries and other special guests. Admittance is by invitation and ticket only, which new graduate students must pick up from Graduate Studies prior to the event. The keynote speaker will be Bonnie Brinton, dean of Graduate Studies. Friday. Sept. 15

BYUSA will host its Fall Fest in the Wilkinson Student Center from 8-11 p.m. There will be pizza and activities including comedy, bands, bowling, laser tag and a showing of "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest." All activities are free for BYU students with an ID, and each student may bring one guest for $5.

Monday, Sept. 25

The opening meeting of the BYU Faculty Women's Association will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the David M. Kennedy Center Conference Room, 238 Herald R. Clark Building. And their idea, an AI detection and tracking system called Spot Parking (more on that in a minute), just got a major endorsement and $12,000 in cash by winning the 2024 BYU Student Innovator of the Year (SIOY) competition.
