Washington Post editor headlines BYU Postelection Conference Nov. 21

Washington Post polling director and polling editor Jon Cohen will headline the Postelection Conference at Brigham Young University’s Center for the Study of Elections and Democracy.

The public is invited to hear Cohen’s keynote address Friday, Nov. 21, at 11 a.m. in the Gordon B. Hinckley Alumni and Visitors Center Assembly Hall where he will discuss the outcome of the 2008 presidential election using polling data to explain the deeper meanings behind the results.

“He is an engaging speaker whose national prominence and knowledge of the 2008 election dynamics will be a very positive part of the conference,” said Quin Monson, assistant director of BYU’s Center for the Study of Elections and Democracy and assistant professor of political science.

Since joining the Post in 2006, Cohen has written more than 100 bylined articles, including 20 printed on the front page. He created the Washington Post blog “Behind the Numbers” and continues to be a regular contributor there.

Prior to joining the Post, Cohen was assistant polling director at ABC News in New York and associate survey director at the Public Policy Institute of California in San Francisco.
