U.S. 'drug czar' to launch BYU-created national ad campaign June 30

What: Top federal officials will launch the U.S. government's new anti-drug advertising campaign -- created by Brigham Young University students -- on campus Wednesday.

The officials will recognize the work of the BYU advertising students who conceived, wrote, designed and produced the print, radio and television ads that will air across the country this summer.

When: 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 30

Why: The BYU students' campaign, managed by ad agency Ogilvy and Mather for the Office of National Drug Control Policy, uses a positive approach to empower teens to avoid marijuana.

The television ads, which are slated to begin airing next week during television shows such as NBC's "Fear Factor" and Fox's "MadTV" and "North Shore," will be unveiled to the public for the first time at the event. Print versions will run in "Sports Illustrated," "YM," "Teen People," "Seventeen" and other magazines popular with youth. Radio versions will also air on stations across the dial.
