University Chorale plan concert April 13

The Brigham Young University School of Music presents University Chorale in Concert Tuesday, April 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall.

The performance is free and the public is welcome to attend.

The concert will feature performers from two sections of the University Chorale classes, and will be conducted by Paul Broomhead assisted by Megan Stephan, and Nathan Wright assisted by Joseph Hoffman.

Broomhead said University Chorale is a significant group on campus because it provides personal growth for the students who participate.

"Most students are in these two choirs primarily for the joy of singing," he said. "It is a great pleasure for a conductor to work with young people who are willing to leave their comfort zones and wholeheartedly invest in an artistic experience."

The choirs will perform music written and arranged by Rene Clausen, George Frederick Handel, Mark Hayes, Antonin Dvorak, John, Leavitt, Jack Schrader, Merrill Bradshaw, John D. Miller, Johannes Brahms, Gary Kent Walth, Rosephanye Powell and Henrich Schütz, Jody W. Lindh and Mack Wilberg.

The University Chorale has two sections which meet and perform separately. Although they are nonauditioned choirs, they perform challenging music and demand a high level of excellence.

Accompanists include Daniel Ricks on the organ and Emily Walker and Brent Rogers on piano.

For more information about University Chorale, contact Paul Broomhead at (801) 422-3315.
