Unique BYU concert features children's choreography Feb. 11

The Brigham Young University Department of Dance presents original children's choreography during "Children's Danceworks" Friday, Feb. 11, at 7:30 p.m. in the Dance Studio Theatre, 166 Richards Building.

Tickets are $4 and can be purchased at the Conferences and Workshops Office in 147 Harman Building or at the door.

The show contains choreography created by young dancers participating in the Children's Creative Dance program at BYU with ages ranging from 4 to 18.

The young choreographers are guided by leaders in the program, who encourage students to create age-appropriate choreography and select the right music for their choreography.

"Only a handful of dancers will have the privilege of choreographing dances performed in the 'Children's Danceworks' concert," said director Kathleen Sheffield.

Three Utah Sterling Scholar scholarship winners are among those participating in the Children's Creative Dance program. These three dancers have been preselected to perform pieces they choreographed in the "Children's Danceworks" recital.

For more information contact Kathleen Sheffield at (801) 422-2043.
