UC-Davis professor to discuss Iraqi war in BYU lecture March 18

David Simpson, a professor of English at the University of California, Davis, will present a Brigham Young University David M. Kennedy Center lecture, “Running from Liberty Plaza and Running in Baghdad,” Wednesday, March 18, at noon in 238 Herald R. Clark Building.

Simpson joined the faculty of UC-Davis in 1997 after teaching at Columbia, the University of Colorado, Northwestern University and Cambridge. His areas of research and teaching are Romanticism and literary theory.

He is a member of the editorial board of Cambridge Studies in Romanticism and Modern Language Quarterly. He is also author of several books, including “9/11: The Culture of Commemoration” and “Situatedness or, Why we Keep Saying Where We're Coming From.”

Simpson received his master’s degree from the University of Michigan and his bachelor’s and doctoral degrees from Magdalene College at Cambridge.
