TV Globo Brazil executive to speak at BYU April 13

The International Media Studies Program at Brigham Young University will host Luis Erlanger, director of communications for TV Globo Brazil, for an Area Focus Lecture Thursday, April 13, at 10 a.m. in 238 Herald R. Clark Building.

Admission is free and the public is welcome.

Erlanger, also a broadcast journalist and former political editor at TV Globo, will speak about “Global Organizations and Brazil.”

The major television network in Brazil, TV Globo owns a facility on 1.65 million square meters of land that boasts 10 studios, 15 production areas and three back lots. In 2002, the new facility had completed the equivalent of more than 1,000 feature films, and daily programming broadcasts to viewers in more than 100 countries.

“We are like a mirror reflecting Brazilian culture,” Erlanger said. “We are also a window allowing the world to see Brazil through TV Globo.”

For more information, contact Allen Palmer, director of International Media Studies, at (801) 422-3832.
