Tribune reporter to discuss Utah's refugees at BYU lecture March 24

Julia Lyon, a reporter at The Salt Lake Tribune, will discuss “A Missing Peace: The Struggle of Utah’s Refugees” at Brigham Young University Wednesday, March 24, at noon in 238 Herald R. Clark Building. The lecture is open to the public.

While working at the Tribune, Lyon has covered topics such as homelessness, hunger and the disabled. She is the leading reporter on social services and Utah’s growing population of refugees from Africa, Iraq and Burma.

Prior to working at the Tribune, Lyon was a reporter at The Bulletin in Bend, Ore., where she covered issues such as education and politics. Lyon has also worked as a dance critic in New York City. She graduated from Columbia University and received her master’s degree at Columbia’s Journalism School.

This lecture will be archived online and is sponsored by the David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies. Archive information is available at kennedy.byu.edu.
