Timothy B. Smith to discuss "Love of the Savior" at Feb. 12 BYU devotional

Timothy B. Smith, associate professor of counseling psychology at Brigham Young University, will share "Love of the Savior: A Pattern for Following Christ and Serving Others" in a devotional address on Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 11:05 a.m. in the Marriott Center.

The devotional will be presented live on BYU Television, KBYU TV, KBYU FM and byubroadcasting.org. For rebroadcast information, visit byubroadcasting.org.

Smith serves as the director of the Alliances of the Strength of the Youth in the David O. McKay School of Education. He also conducts research on the relationship of spirituality and mental health and various other topics related to world cultures, such as overcoming racism and promoting cultural adaptations in therapy.

He is the former editor of the Journal of College Counseling and former chair of the American Counseling Association Council of Journal Editors. He serves on several journal editorial boards and has published more than 50 articles and book chapters.

Prior to coming to BYU, Smith taught at Drexel University and the University of South Dakota. He received his bachelor's degree in psychology at BYU and completed graduate degrees in psychology and sociology from Utah State University and Rhodes University in South Africa.
