TIME CHANGE: BYU "Evening of Percussion" Nov. 10 at 4 p.m.

The Brigham Young University School of Music will host "An Evening of Percussion" Saturday, Nov. 10, at  4 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall. The event will feature performances by the Percussion Ensemble and Panoramic Steel directed by Ron Brough and Gamelan Bintang Wahyu directed by Jeremy Grimshaw.

This event was previously announced to begin at 7:30 p.m. The new time will accommodate the evening football game. All tickets for the performance will still be honored. Please contact the BYU Ticket Office with any questions.

The Percussion Ensemble will present three numbers. "Why Not?” by Camillo, Eigenberg and Koski; “Unseen Child” by Bob Becker; and the Scherzo from Symphony No. 9 by Ludwig van Beethoven arranged by Harold Farberman.

Gamelan Bintang Wahyu, a unique group that uses traditional Balinese instruments, will perform two traditional numbers as well as a contemporary work, "Maya Beduah” by BYU alumnus Gavin Ryan.

Panoramic Steel will present four numbers: “Drive” by Chris Tanner, “Acadia Sunset” by Gary Gibson, “Yumbabme" by Leo Loco arranged by Ron Brough and “Play One for Keith” by Andy Narell.

Green-thumb dynasty: BYU landscaping wins fifth national championship in six years

For the fifth time in six years, BYU students dug, pruned and planted their way to the National Collegiate Landscaping Competition title, the March Madness of college landscaping teams. BYU bested 50 other universities in the four-day event, outscoring the second-place finisher by more than 358 points and breaking the 5000-point total for the first time in the 48-year history of the tournament.
