Thousands expected to attend Winter 2007 Career and Internship Fair at BYU Jan. 31

Organizers of the Brigham Young University Winter 2007 Career and Internship Fair are “expecting another employer full house” for the event on Wednesday, Jan. 31 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Wilkinson Student Center Ballroom and Garden Court.

Students of all academic disciplines are invited to attend and are encouraged to bring up-to-date resumes. As the event caters to both internships and careers, many employers will offer summer work experience as well as full-time positions.

More than 5,000 students and alumni are expected to attend and meet with approximately 130 employers. Arnold Parrott, director of BYU Career Placement Services, said he expects a last-minute rush of companies to reserve booths at the fair.

“We attract thousands of young men and women to our fairs mainly because we attract top-tier employers,” Parrott said. “Our career placement advisers do a lot of outreach in search of businesses and organizations who would profit from hiring BYU graduates.”

In preparation for the fair, Career Placement Services in 2410 WSC will host a series of “Resume Critique” sessions prior to the event. No appointment is necessary to stop by the office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, and Monday, Jan. 29, where a specialist will critique student resumes.

In honor of BYU’s 150th anniversary, electrical engineering professor Greg Nordin and student Callum Galloway have created 150 microscopic replicas of existing LDS temples, all on a 12-by-19 millimeter microchip. Each of these unique temples — 150 different floor plans to celebrate 150 years of BYU — is less than a grain of rice in length.
