Theatre and media arts faculty post available at BYU

The Theatre and Media Arts Department at Brigham Young University seeks applicants for a permanent (continuing-faculty status) professional faculty teaching position in film and digital media beginning Aug. 15, 2004. Requirements include an MFA, Ph.D. or equivalent professional experience in the academic setting.

Primary responsibilities will include teaching production courses in digital media and new technologies and supervising student projects, including interdisciplinary efforts across film, theatre, and animation.

The successful candidate will:

  • Exhibit production and writing expertise in narrative and documentary production as informed by film history and critical studies;

  • Demonstrate technical background and expertise in film and digital media production and post-production systems and processes (e.g., AVID, Final Cut Pro and Pro Tools);

  • Assist the department in developing meaningful connections among students and faculty through collaborative collegiality. This colleague will normally teach a nine-credit-hour load per semester, provide academic advising to undergraduates, oversee the Media Arts Lab, serve on various departmental and all-campus committees, and engage actively in research and creative work. Salary is competitive, commensurate with experience.
