Thailand's ambassador to the United States to give BYU lecture Nov. 16

The David M. Kennedy Center will host the Thai Ambassador to the United States during an Ambassadorial Insights lecture, “Thailand-U.S. Relations,” on Thursday, Nov. 16 at 11 a.m. in 238 Herald R. Clark Building.

His Excellency Virasakdi Futrakul became ambassador in February 2006, having served as ambassador to France, permanent representative to the U.N. Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and a member of the Governing Board at the Development Centre of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (2004-06).

A career diplomat, Futrakul received a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Washington and a master’s degree in foreign affairs from the University of Virginia. He also studied at the National Defense College in Thailand.
