Study smarter not harder: free academic skills workshop for students

Throughout the month of May, the BYU Career and Academic Success Center is offering free academic and life skills workshops for students.

Students will learn how to study smarter, remember more and efficiently prepare for tests. Additionally, the center offers information and guidance for students preparing to choose a major or career, explore graduate school, interview for a job or submit a resume and cover letter.

Listening and Note Taking: learn effective listening habits for efficient note taking

  • May 9 at 11 a.m.
  • May 19 at noon
  • May 29 at 11 a.m.

Memory: learn about memory principles and mnemonics to help you remember more

  • May 14 at 1 p.m.
  • May 20 at 1 p.m.
  • May 30 at 11 a.m. 

Test Preparation: learn the skills and strategies that can help you take tests more effectively.

  • May 12 at noon
  • May 21 at 1p.m.

Textbook Comprehension: use the SQ4R reading method and other techniques to help you study smarter (not harder)

  • May 13 at 1 p.m.
  • May 22 at 11 a.m.
  • May 28 at 1 p.m.

Time Management: gain control of your life by controlling your time and learn to make the most of your schedule.

  • May 8 at 11 a.m.
  • May 23 at 11 a.m.

Communication: explore the distinct roles of listeners and speakers and focus on interpersonal communication

  • May 15 at 11 a.m.
  • May 27 at 1 p.m.

Stress Management: learn to identify and manage your own stress through relaxation and stress management techniques.

Innovative group of BYU students roll out new AI tech to solve parking problems
